2W 2018 - 2019

Mrs Wilson

Year 2 Teacher (2W)

Welcome to 2W!

We have now reached the second term and what a lot we are getting up to! Our current topic sees us investigating different groups of animals and looking at the many different habitats that animals can live in. We also learn about the different continents of our world and the oceans and seas that surround them. As we look at animal families, we will find out about common and more unusual life cycles and find out how food chains work.

We have just been on a much awaited visit to Chester Zoo, to practise taking photos using the IPADs and to investigate habitats and the threats that some animals face. On our return, these photographs have be used during ICT lessons. In history we are finding out about the life and times of Charles Darwin and asking what life was like on board ship.

Throughout this term we aim to consolidate the use of basic punctuation and to ensure that pupils become increasingly familiar with more complex punctuation as well as terms such as noun, verb, adjective and adverb. We will also be continuing to investigate patterns in maths linked to number bonds and multiplication and division facts. This term also sees the introduction of fractions so we highly recommend that the children make use of the practice maths sheets sent hme each week to consolidate their learning during lessons.

As always we welcome any offers of support for both English and maths, and are happy to meet with you after school, should you have any concerns or queries.
