2W 2018 - 2019

Mrs Wilson

Welcome to 2W!

We have now reached the second term and what a lot we have in store! Our new topic sees us investigating different groups of animals and looking at the many different habitats that animals can live in. We also learn about the different continents of our world and the oceans and seas that surround them. As we look at animal families, we will find out about common and more unusual life cycles and find out how food chains work.

We have an exciting visit from Ace Gymnastics coaching - linked to our work on health and hygiene and are hoping to be visited by the dental hygiene nurse to find out about how we can look after our own teeth.

Towards the end of the term we take a much awaited visit to Chester Zoo, to practise taking photos using the IPADs and to investigate habitats further. On our return, these photographs will be used during our study of editing and using images in computing lessons. In history we will find out about the life and work of Jane Goodall and her links to the protection of animals and the conservation of animal habitats.

Throughout this term we aim to consolidate the use of basic punctuation and to ensure that pupils become increasingly familiar with more complex punctuation as well as terms such as noun, verb, adjective and adverb. We will also be continuing to investigate patterns in maths linked to number bonds and multiplication and division facts. This term also sees the introduction of fractions so we highly recommend that the children make use of the practice maths sheets sent hme each week to consolidate their learning during lessons.

As always we welcome any offers of support for both English and maths, and are happy to meet with you after school, should you have any concerns or queries.

Happy New Year and all the very best for 2019!
