X Factor Maths Champions!

Please use your 'counting card' sent home in your welcome pack,  as a record to check how well your child is able to recall number facts and times tables 'instantly'. While the autumn term is traditionally spent consolidating knowledge of number bonds and doubles and halves, it is never too soon to begin work on recall of the times tables x and division facts too.

We hold a maths challenge each week in order to encourage our pupils to learn new number facts and times tables. This is called X Factor Maths and takes place each Friday morning. As pupils achieve a new skill or learn a new set of facts they will be classed as X Factor champions that week. We will post photos of all of the pupils who have successfully met each new challenge.

In order to enable some of our less confident mathematicians to develop their skills, we have also got 'Maths Support Champions' who will be working with some of them each week. If there are any more parent vounteers who feel they could make a difference by hearing times tables and number facts we would love to hear from you, as traditionally the role of parent helper has been to support in class or with reading in particular and we feel that support with maths should be equally strong.

If your child's photo appears on the 'x factor wall of fame' below this means that they have successfully got 17, 18, 19 or 20 out of 20 in a counting or times table skills practice, or have made an significant improvement in their score since the previous test - so say a HUGE well done from us all!
