first 100 High frequency words

It is important for your child's reading and writing development that they can quickly read and spell the first 100 high frequency words. Please support your child at home by regularly playing games using these words. Useful games are bingo, snap, spot a requested word in a reading book, painting words, chalking words, word searches, finding words in newspapers, corners (where a selection of words are written on paper, you call a word and the child runs to it) and asking your child to look at a word, cover it up, write it then check the spelling is correct. Websites such as phonics play and BBC schools have games to support recall of the first 100 tricky words. Once your child is secure with the first 100 10 words please move onto the next 200 words. Thank you for your continued support.
