Regular attendance plays a vital part in helping your child to reach their full potential.
We expect pupils to arrive in time to start the day at 8.55 a.m. promptly.
Should your child need to be absent we ask:
- Parents to inform school on the first day of your child’s absence
- Send a letter or email to email@example.com to ensure absence is recorded as authorised
- Pupils who are late are asked to sign the late book in the school office. Persistent absence and lateness is followed up by the Headteacher and the Education Welfare Officer (EWO)
We follow the National Government guidelines for holidy absence during term term. Holidays during term time are NOT authorised except under the most exceptional circumstances. If you feel your circumstances are exceptional, a request form for authorised leave can be obtained from the office and should be returned addressed to the headteacher. Each request is considered on an individual basis. Please ensure you complete the request form BEFORE holiday bookings are made. Where authorised absence is requested due to close family weddings, special events and cultural/religious occasions, we will ask for documention to substantiate the request.
As agreed with governors in the Spring term of 2014, the school has operated a fixed penalty charge for unauthorised absences. Further details are available on request.
