Phonics
In June all Year 1 pupils will undertake an assessment in phonics. During their daily phonics lessons they learn and use the different phonemes (sounds) required to aid reading and spelling. It would be helpful to practise these at home so that children know the sound represented by each grapheme ( group of letters). There are lots of resources to help with this on the phonicsplay website, bbc schools and ict games.
