Welcome to Year 3 (Miss Rehman)

This term we are focusing on the topic 'Hunter Gatherer... or Farmer?' In this topic, we examine Prehistoric Britain and look at early human history and changes in Britain during the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age. As part of our learning, we enjoy an exciting, hands-on workshop at Tatton Park where we examine what life was like for people living at the time. 

English

In English, we will explore a book called "Stone Age Boy" by Satoshi Kitamura and find out about the life of the famous English fossil hunter, Mary Anning. We will practise key English skills and complete narrative and non-fiction pieces of writing based on these two books. Children will also practise reading and comprehension skills through regular class guided reading work on shorter extracts of a range of texts.  Please support your child by hearing them read each night at home too.

Maths

Over the course of the year, we will be following the White Rose Maths scheme. In Autumn, this focuses on three units: Place Value, Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division. We work with numbers to 1,000 in year three and focus on 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x, 4x and 8x times tables and their related division facts.  Please support your child by practising their times tables and doing the Monday Maths which is posted every Monday on class dojo.
