Year 2 Finger Puppets

Class: 2W Year: 2022 - 2023

The children were challenged to design a finger puppet of an animal. They began by looking at examples of shop bought finger puppets and identifying things they liked and didn't like about these products. They also thought about who these puppets might be designed for. 

Once they had had a good look they began to design their own puppets. They each made a paper template for the body of their animal, pinned this to some felt - which was very tricky! After this they drew round the template and cut out the felt - again this proved very tricky as cutting cloth is much harder than cutting paper!

The next step was to sew the back and the front together before they made a template for the head of their animal. After this the heads and other details were attached with glue. Finally the children looked at each other's work and evaluated their own puppets and designs as well as those of others.
