English
In English, we will explore a story from another culture called "The Magic Paintbrush" and write stories based on this model. We will also write non-fiction, persuasive texts all about Etchells! oChildren will also practise reading and comprehension skills (VIPERS) through regular class guided reading work on short extracts of a range of texts. Please support your child by hearing them read each night at home too.
Maths
This term, we will continue to follow the White Rose Maths scheme. In Summer, this focuses on the followingunits: Fractions, Decimals, Money, Shape and Statistics. We work with numbers to 1,000 in year three and with four digit numbers in year 4. We focus on 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x, 4x and 8x times tables and their related division facts (Y3) and all the times tables (Y4).
Supporting your child at home
If you can do anything at home, please support your child by hearing them read as often as you can. We will try to hear them read in school and support their learning with whole class comprehension but 1:1 reading really does help them progress in all subjects. We will learn the times tables but little extras at home will help. Children will also have Monday Maths and half-termly topic homework activities to choose from.
